The Truth of Your Work

A two-day advanced instructor intensive on where movement begins, taught by Christian Cox — hosted here at Legacy Pilates.

The exercise is only the expression. The work begins underneath.

Christian Cox, Founder & Master Instructor, A.M.U

Who should attend

Open to teachers in training and certified instructors.

Format
Reformer + Chair,
Mat + Tower
Length
Two days, 4 hrs each
Investment
$400 / day or $800 both

The work is not simply performing the exercise. The work is understanding where the movement begins.

This intensive moves beyond choreography into the principles behind effective teaching — built from Christian Cox's 28 years of teaching, mentorship, and movement observation.

What this intensive explores

Across both days, instructors work through the questions that sit underneath every cue and correction.

The two days

Each day can be taken on its own, or together as the complete intensive.

Day One4 hours

Reformer + Wunda Chair

The Reformer and Chair provide a powerful opportunity to explore strength, resistance, control, and movement organization — how the apparatus supports intelligent movement, and how instructors can better recognize and refine the work being performed.

  • Understanding where movement begins
  • Authentic muscular recruitment
  • Creating strength without compensation
  • Recognizing inefficient movement patterns
  • Developing a stronger teaching eye
  • Refining verbal and tactile cueing
  • Understanding the intention behind the exercises
  • Connecting classical principles with effective teaching strategies
  • Hands-on corrections and instructor application
Day Two4 hours

Mat + Tower

The Mat and Tower reveal the foundation of the Pilates method and challenge instructors to understand movement without relying solely on external support — connection, organization, breath, and control.

  • Returning to the foundation of the method
  • Archival work vs. current work, and the difference
  • Understanding movement from the center
  • Recognizing compensation patterns
  • Using the Tower to support and refine movement
  • Progressions and regressions with intention
  • Translating principles into effective teaching
  • Instructor practice and feedback

Christian Cox

Founder & Master Instructor, Authentic Method University
Founder, AM RADIO Pilates — Austin, TX
28years teaching Pilates & movement

Christian began her training at 18 with Romana Kryzanowska, and furthered her education globally with instructors including Brooke Siler and masters from the Pilates Center of Boulder and Chaz Knight.

As Founder and Master Instructor of Authentic Method University, she has built an educational platform focused on instructors who understand not just the exercises, but the purpose, precision, and principles — and the archival work — behind them.

Through thousands of hours of teaching and mentorship, she has developed a refined ability to see movement beyond the surface: recognizing patterns, identifying compensation, and helping instructors find more effective ways to teach.

Her philosophy is simple: the exercise is only the expression. The work begins underneath.
